a. What is a Cookie?

A Cookie is a small amount of data, which often includes a unique identifier that is sent to your computer, tablet or mobile phone (referred to here as a “Device”) web browser from a website’s computer and is stored on your Device’s hard drive. Each website can send its own Cookie to your web browser if your browser’s preferences allow it. Many websites do this whenever a user visits their website in order to track online traffic flows. Similar technologies are also often used within emails to understand whether the email has been read or if any links have been clicked. If you continue without changing your settings, we’ll assume that you are happy to receive all Cookies on the URWI Site. However, you can change your Cookie settings at any time.

b. How does URWI use Cookies?

We use Cookies to help us to improve the performance of our website. We don’t sell the information collected by Cookies.

We use performance Cookies and similar technologies across URWI Site for internal purposes to help us to provide you with a better user experience. Data supplied by Cookies helps us to understand how our visitors use URWI Site, so that we can improve how we present our content to you. They also allow us to test different design ideas for particular pages, such as the URWI homepage.

We generally contract with independent measurement companies to perform these services for us. The URWI uses a web analytics service – Google Analytics, provided by Google, Inc. Google Analytics sets a Cookie in order to evaluate use of URWI’s Site and compile a report for us. The data provided by web analysis service will not be matched with any individual’s data from other sources, and we will not share the data provided by the web analysis service with third parties. Data collected by this service would normally include information about your visits including: geographical location, referral source, length of visit, page views, search engine type, search channel.

c. Other information collected from web browsers

Your web browser may also provide the URWI with information about your Device, such an IP address and details about the browser that you are using. We use information provided by your browser or by the link that you have clicked to understand the webpage that directed you to URWI and this may be captured by performance Cookies.

d. How can I control Cookies?

If you don’t want to receive Cookies, you can modify your browser so that it notifies you when Cookies are sent to it or you can refuse Cookies altogether. You can also delete Cookies that have already been set.

If you wish to restrict or block web browser Cookies which are set on your device then you can do this through your browser settings; the Help function within your browser should tell you how. Alternatively, you may wish to visit www.aboutcookies.org, which contains comprehensive information on how to do this on a wide variety of desktop browsers.
